New website for Area Onlus

A visual identity restyling and new website as results of the co-design workshop

Area is a non-profit organization that has worked alongside families and people with disabilities for over 40 years, to promote inclusion and build together effective responses to specific needs. Quattrolinee was called to

help the staff reorganize the digital services offer, questioning the entire plant that had been consolidated over time. We also took this opportunity to undertake a graphic restyling of the brand.

Co-design workshop

We made a workshop with Area, structured in two meetings to understand precisely the current issues, the identifying values and the needs of the staff and users. From this process of co-design has emerged the need to bring together the digital services that Area offers:

an archive of over 900 physical and digital resources accessible to all, useful information to navigate the complexity of bureaucracy and guidance and support services for fragile families.

Visual

The creation of the new visual identity started from the values that emerged during the co-design workshop.
The logotype presents the particular characteristic: the meeting of A and R through a sample clip represented by a point. The references are different, from the playful world to the concept of support and union.

In the same way, we created simple and colored geometric figures, which are often joined together to recall a childish universe and a carefree nature that Area’s work seeks to recover.

Website design

We created the Area website by completely restructuring the contents of two sites in a single one. The site uses the Sinnos “Leggimi” font, which was created specifically to make digital and printed content accessible to everyone.
The biggest challenge for us has been to design a website that would make intuitively accessible the numerous contents of Area:

a library of nearly 1000 reviewed books, navigable thanks to a large number of filters, and over 500 blog articles.

Another important action was to highlight the most important projects of the non-profit organization, such as “Vietato non sfogliare”, a traveling project that brings in several Italian cities accessible books and books about disability,

that we have enriched with an interactive map that shows the various cities in which the project moves from time to time.
